Ammonium removing filter material only for freshwater aquariums indispensable for heavily-stocked unplanted aquariums and for the transport of fish. 1 kilogram of the product adsorbs 5000 milligrams ammonium/ammonia, reducing the nitrites and nitrates produced as a result.
Product description JBL AmmoEX:
Ammonium is considered to be the first decomposition stage in the nitrogen cycle. It consists of proteins which are converted by heterotrophic bacteria to ammonium. In addition, fish excrete a percentage of their bodily weight into the water every day in the form of ammonium. Ammonium is non-toxic, with increasing pH-levels is converted to an ever-greater degree into toxic ammonia. Use if symptoms of poisoning appear in the pond or aquarium, it is important that the ammonium level is measured using the JBL Ammonium test set, in addition to nitrite.
If ammonia levels of over 0.25 milligrams/litre are measured, the pH-level must immediately reduced slightly and the ammonium eliminated in the long term using JBL AmmoEX, as well as the bacterial decomposition process activated with JBL Denitrol (pollutant-decomposing bacteria). After the filters have been cleaned or medications have been used, bacteria which break down ammonium and nitrite are reintroduced to the filter using JBL Filterstar.
